We believe an informed customer is a happy customer. Here's an honest guide to what happens to your clothes when you bring them to us.
Despite the name, dry cleaning isn't completely dry โ it uses a liquid solvent instead of water to clean your clothes. This is what makes it safe for fabrics that would shrink, warp, or lose their shape in a regular washing machine.
When you drop off your garment, we carefully inspect it for existing stains, damage, or special care instructions. Each item is tagged so it never gets mixed up with anyone else's clothes.
Before the main cleaning cycle, visible stains are treated individually with specialized spotting agents. Different stains require different treatments โ grease responds to one chemical, wine to another, and ink to a third.
Garments are placed in a professional dry cleaning machine that works similarly to a washing machine, but uses a chemical solvent โ typically a gentle hydrocarbon โ instead of water. The solvent dissolves oils, grease, and dirt without damaging delicate fibers.
The machine spins out the solvent, which is then filtered, purified, and reused โ making the process environmentally responsible. The garment is then dried inside the machine with warm air.
After cleaning, we inspect each garment again. Any remaining spots are treated a second time. The item is then professionally pressed, steamed, and finished to restore its original shape and crispness.
Your garment is carefully hung or folded, covered in a protective bag, and ready for you โ usually within few days.
Stain removal is a science. The success of removing a stain depends on three main factors: the type of stain, the type of fabric, and โ most importantly โ how quickly it was treated. The sooner a stained garment reaches us, the better the chances of full removal.
Every stain is different. Protein-based stains (blood, egg, sweat) require different treatment than tannin-based stains (wine, coffee, tea) or oil-based stains (grease, makeup, salad dressing). Using the wrong treatment can actually set a stain permanently.
We use professional-grade spotting agents that break down the molecular bonds holding the stain to the fabric fibers. These are far more powerful than anything available in a supermarket.
The treatment is gently worked into the fabric and then flushed out with steam or solvent. For stubborn stains, this process may be repeated multiple times with progressively stronger agents.
After cleaning, we inspect under bright light for any remaining traces. If a stain is still visible, we attempt further treatment before finishing. We will always let you know if a stain could not be fully removed.
Not all stains are equal. Here's an honest breakdown of what we can typically achieve โ and what has its limits. Every garment and stain is unique, so these are general guidelines, not guarantees.
Best results when brought to us within 24โ48 hours of the stain occurring.
We will do our best, but full removal cannot be guaranteed. Results vary by fabric type and how long the stain has been set.
These stains have chemically bonded with or physically damaged the fabric fibers. Cleaning can improve appearance but full removal is unlikely.
Some stains โ especially sugar-based ones like soda, white wine, or fruit juice โ are invisible when dry but turn yellow or brown when exposed to heat or over time. This is why we recommend cleaning garments before storing them, even if they look clean. Once these stains oxidize, they become much harder to remove.
The best thing you can do for a stained garment is get it to us quickly and tell us exactly what caused the stain. Here are a few tips that make a real difference.
The sooner a stain is treated, the better. Fresh stains haven't bonded deeply with fabric fibers yet. Bring it to us within 24โ48 hours whenever possible.
Rubbing spreads the stain and pushes it deeper into the fabric. Gently blot โ don't scrub โ to absorb excess liquid before bringing it to us.
Always tell us what caused the stain. Using the wrong treatment can permanently set it. Even a rough guess (food? drink? grease?) helps us choose the right approach.
Never iron or put a stained garment in a hot dryer. Heat sets stains permanently and makes them nearly impossible to remove โ even for professionals.
Home stain removers can react badly with professional solvents or set certain stains. When in doubt, bring it to us untreated and let us handle it.
Always dry clean seasonal garments before putting them in storage. Invisible stains oxidize over time and become permanent. Insects are also attracted to soiled fabrics.
Bring it in and we'll take a look โ no obligation. Our team has seen it all and will give you an honest assessment.
